What Teen Patti Actually Is

Teen Patti is a three-card game played between a dealer and multiple players. Each player receives three cards face down. The goal is simple: hold a better card combination than the dealer, or outlast every other player still in the round.

The game uses a standard 52-card deck with no jokers. Suits only matter when two hands tie at the same combination level. Aces are the highest card; twos are the lowest. A game round typically lasts under two minutes, which makes it well-suited to mobile play during a short break.

Card Combinations, Ranked High to Low

A-2-3 is the highest-ranked Pure Sequence and the second-highest Pure Sequence overall, just below A-K-Q of the same suit.

How the Betting Rounds Work

Before the Cards

Every player places the mandatory Boot (ante) into the pot. This is the minimum stake that keeps the round active. At spi9, the live tables start with a boot of ৳10.

After the Deal

Each player receives three cards face down. You can look at your cards (Seen) or choose to keep them hidden (Blind). Your betting rules depend on this choice:

• Call (Chaal) — match the current stake and stay in the round. You are saying your hand might win.
• Fold (Pack) — surrender your cards and leave the round. You lose your contribution to the pot so far but avoid losing more.
• Sideshow (Compromise) — request a private card comparison with the previous seen player (only when you are both seen). The loser must fold.

Showdown

When only two players remain, either can call a showdown. Both reveal their cards. The higher combination wins the entire pot. If the hands are equal, the player who did not call the showdown wins.

What New Players Often Get Wrong

These are the most common mistakes at the Teen Patti table. Avoiding them will not guarantee wins, but it will help your balance last longer while you build experience.

• Staying blind too long. Playing blind costs half the bet of a seen player, which sounds like a saving. But if you hold a weak hand you will not know — and you will keep calling until you run out of chips or someone shows you up at the sideshow.
• Overvaluing a pair. A pair wins against a High Card hand but loses to a Sequence, Color, Pure Sequence, and Trail. At a full table it is a middle-strength hand, not a guaranteed winner.
• Chasing a Pure Sequence. If you hold two suited consecutive cards and are waiting for the third, the probability of completing the hand is low. Folding a weak two-card start is often cheaper than calling round after round.
• Ignoring the boot size. The boot you put in before the deal is a real cost. On high-boot tables, even folding early is expensive. Start on low-stake tables (৳2–৳10 boot) until you are comfortable with the pace.
• Not setting a session limit. Teen Patti rounds are fast. It is easy to play many rounds quickly without noticing how much you have staked in total. Decide your maximum session loss before you sit down, and stop when you reach it.
• Confusing 20-20 with classic Teen Patti. Teen Patti 20-20 by Evolution uses a side-bet structure that adds extra win conditions on top of the base game. Read the in-table rules panel before your first bet in this variant.
